Hola!
We have had many more days in Mallorca.
Starting the day after we went to the Drach caves, on the Saturday ...
Well, the Rapides had a quiet day, swimming and relaxing and sunbathing, whilst we thought Juan and Corvy were doing things - but apparently they slept in very late instead (a typical Spanish tradition I believe!). When Dolch and Juan arrived at our apartment we went to the local supermarket to get provisions and I cooked dinner for everyone = spaghetti bolognese (short translation for Werners girlfriend = espagueti boloñesa). It was unbelievable, Dolch gave compliments about my cooking!! But maybe this is just an attempt to butter me up prior to asking for more money in game!
We parted that evening understanding that they would arrive earlish the next morning....
Sunday, well maybe 1pm is early morning for these spanish people!!!!!
We went via an old train to Soller. We found a museum there, including some Picasso ceramics, for which Dolch and Norman were in their elements. We saw the church and the bank building, which had some facial additions by a student of Guadi.
We then got the tram down to Port Soller, walked around there for a while, and then made the return journey. Travelling across Mallorca in this way was an excellent way of viewing the beautiful country that Juan is priveleged to live in.
When we got back to the apartment Juan and Luis went for a swim in the sea. It appeared calm, however, when they tried to climb out onto the the nearby little island, they got alittle dashed onto the rocks and sustained slight cuts and abrasions, that I cleaned up for them.
On the Monday we went into Palma and visited the Cathedral, which was impressive. Including a alterpiece by Gaudi. Norman educated us all on the works of art displayed in the cathedral.
We walked around some of the old streets. We sat by the old ancient olive tree by the town hall, and even managed to have a picture taken of all 5 of us together. We returned to the apartment for the last time with Luis, and he asked for his last cup of tea - which he happened to love!! Luis was very taken with the apartment, and loved sitting out on the balcony drinking in the view and atmosphere. We said goodbye to Luis, saying we would meet again.
Tuesday and Wednesday were quiet days, as on Wednesday Juan had another exam. we sunbathed and swam and relaxed. I even plucked up enough courage to swim in the sea with the fishes! But i was not brave enough to climb up onto the nearby island.
Today, Thursday, Juan collected us and we went to Bellver castle, a 14th century castle near Palma. It was wonderful, with fantastic views. There was a little bridge across to a separate tower which reminded us all of a similar structure at the Theed Palace on Naboo. After this we went to Pueblo Español, and were able to visit many small replicas of famous spanish buildings. Including a replica from Alhambra, Granada, which I had visited with Sala only earlier this year.
Well, tomorrow we return back to England, and probably rain! I will put the last post in then, and get Norman to put some of the pics on the website too.
